Abstract:
Electric Vehicle Supply Equipment (EV, EVSE) are not just passive endpoints of the electric grid; they are high performance computing and communication systems. Their number is rising in a strained way to be able to feed Europe's ever-growing EV fleet. The organization of the EVSEs into a dynamic and collaborative network with ICT systems of the electro mobility domain opens new horizons in front of the EV charging market. This means improved charging transactions and charge point management, smart grid integration, and the application of promising ancillary services. This paper presents the Arrowhead framework, a service oriented approach for the Internet of Things, as a possible networking platform for EV charging stations and related communication systems. The integration of a real charging station - developed by evopro Innovation LLC. - with the Arrowhead framework is also described.
