Abstract:
A simple IP control implementation is described for induction machine drive systems which can easily be added to the standard field oriented PI control structure. This IP control structure adds simple filters to the reference values in the field oriented control to enable effective cancellation of the s-term in the numerator of the closed-loop transfer functions. Although the IP filter introduces a slight delay, it enables a smooth tracking response without slowing down the disturbance rejection. Practical results are included from a Typhoon system which emulates the induction machine drive, and a TI microcontroller (TMS320F28335) which contains the machine control code, to validate the discrete control design and illustrate the controller performance. The IP control results in improved speed tracking, reduced decoupled stator dq axis voltages and smoother stator dq currents with lower peak values, compared to the standard PI control.
