Abstract:

In this paper the experimental validation of the novel synchronous reluctance motor with sinusoidal anisotropic rotor is presented. The Novel SynRM is tested to validate previously reported results obtained from theoretical analysis and computer simulation. At first, the rotor alignment test is performed to obtain the d-and q-axis positions with respect to the A-phase axis. Secondly, the standstill dc test is carried out to measure the torque generated by the dc current. The torque is recorded at different current vector angles for various currents. In order to determine the d-and q-axis inductances, the static ac voltage test is carried out. Finally, the shaft torque as function of rotor position and its ripple content are obtained through the dynamic test. To conclude, the practical results of the Novel SynRM are compared with the results of a standard SynRM (standard rotor without cut-off).
