Abstract:

The importance of accurately measuring global precipitation is increasingly being recognized in terms of improving the forecast of extreme rainfall events that cause disasters, monitoring the Earth system, and understanding the Earth's water and energy cycle. To meet this demand, Global Satellite Mapping of Precipitation (GSMaP) (Kubota et al., 2007; Ushio et al., 2009) in Japan supplies products that have resolution of 0.1 degrees and less than 1 hour as a part of the GPM (Global Precipitation Measurements) project and the products are widely used by agencies around the world. Among the GSMaP products, gauge adjusted GSMaP (GSMaP _ Gauge) has been recently developed and some validation studies are going on. In this study, recent updates on the GSMaP _ Gauge algorithm are presented.
