Abstract:
The Mediterranean ports play a crucial role in the long-term economic growth of the local and regional communities providing numerous maritime services. They are situated close to the international trade routes and are the main hubs with the necessary infrastructure for the accommodation of transhipment cargo, connecting with all regional ports. Thus, the protection of the ports' infrastructure may act as a significant catalyst for urban regeneration and the development of the local and regional business and manufacturing sector. However, the lack of a harmonization approach in treating their cyber and physical issues is considered the most important obstacle in the way the ports manage their security and safety bridges in the maritime world. In this context, the paper presents a collaborative environment where the ports can visualize their security practices and procedures, exchange knowledge, experience and expertise in resolving their daily security problems.
