This paper compares the annual metrics reporting documents of two federally funded scientific user facilities: a supercomputing facility and a high-energy x-ray synchrotron facility. The aim of this paper is to motivate a discussion about the extent to which annual metrics reporting documents at user facilities are shaped by the type of scientific resources that they support and other organizational factors.
