Abstract:

In mice implanted with human melanoma xenografts, this study set out to determine if a correlation exists between noninvasive contrast-enhanced ultrasound measures of tumor neovascularity with invasive histologic specimens stained with angiogenesis markers CD31, COX-2, and VEGF. Results indicate that ultrasound, in conjunction with the use of contrast media, may provide a noninvasive marker for angiogenesis.
