Abstract:
This paper proposes a fast and accurate algorithm to decouple the lines of capacitively coupled buses. Simulation results show that the proposed algorithm accurately estimates the equivalent capacitances and delay of the coupled buses with an average error of 3.0% and a maximum error of 4.5%. The commonly used Miller coupling factor (MCF) of 0, 1, and 2 results in an average error of 104% and a worst-case error of 210% The complexity of the proposed algorithm is shown to be linear in the number of bus lines. The MCF between adjacent interconnects with exponential waveforms is shown to have best and worst-case values of MCF/sub best/=-1.885 and MCF/sub worst/=3.885. The decoupling algorithm accurately estimates the equivalent capacitances in that range with accurate delay results compared to the coupled bus.
