Abstract:

A generic noise model is derived from the existing thermal noise canceling circuits and is used to generate two transistor circuits exploiting flicker and thermal noise cancellation. In radio frequency (RF) circuit applications, thermal noise cancellation is often used to break the trade-off between input match and noise figure (NF). In this work, noise canceling amplifiers and buffers with high input impedance are generated. Noise canceling conditions are derived for three newly generated circuits and verified through simulations. These three new noise canceling circuits are a balun amplifier, a fully differential amplifier, and a fully differential buffer.
