Abstract:

This paper presents the design of an interference-resilient mutual-capacitive touch screen panel (TSP) readout IC. To overcome the influences of an in-band interference injection, it employs hybrid spread spectrum TSP drive scheme combining chirp spread spectrum (CSS) and pseudo-random (PR) orthogonal matrix. In addition, the proposed transimpedance amplifier (TIA) with differential current scaler (DCS) provides wide dynamic range of the front end circuit only for a capacitive change of mutual-capacitance. The proposed IC was fabricated in a 0.13 μm standard CMOS. The measurement results show that the proposed IC achieves 54.2 dB signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) and 24 dB in-band interference rejection ratio with 11.5 mW power consumption. The readout IC was demonstrated with TSP having 31-drive and 15-sense electrodes.
