Abstract:
Motivated by the power system's decarbonization and the grid-side challenges in the integration of electric vehicles (EV), we propose an intelligent charge service based on a decen-tralized protocol for negotiating day-ahead charging schedules. The broad objective is to shift the load due to EV to fill the overnight electricity demand valley and consume when there is a surplus of renewable energy in the system. We propose a new mechanism in the day-ahead energy market where the System Operator (SO) offers a surplus of renewable energy package at a low price. In each iteration of the proposed protocol, the EVs, through an Energy Management System (EMS), choose their charging strategy for the next day according to the price profile broadcast by the Charging Service Provider (CSP). As a result, the CSP updates the price profile to guide their behavior. The proposed protocol needs no coordination among the EVs, hence requires low communication and computation capability.
