Abstract:
The stability and performance analysis of distribution grids has become a growing concern due to the increasing penetration of renewable energy sources, such as solar and wind power, and converter-based demand, such as EV chargers, which can cause voltage and frequency instabilities that can compromise the reliability and loss of quality of service for the grid. This paper proposes a flexible software architecture for creating and executing frequency and time domain simulations in the range of RMS modelling. The architecture has been exploited to run network studies from a UK DSO dataset (National Grid Electricity Distribution), covering voltage stability, interarea oscillations, and TSO/DSO interaction.
