Abstract:

For efficient monitoring of thermal expansion in power plant, a novel distributed monitoring system based on plastic optical fiber (POF) and controller area network (CAN) is proposed. The physical layer and protocol layer are designed and implemented. The application of POF in field bus system can considerably reduce the impact of electromagnetic interference (EMI) on signal transmission, and make system flexible, simple and economical. This system has been tested in the laboratory environment, and the experimental results show that stable transmission and real-time communication can be ensured.
