Abstract:

In this paper a mixed ICT and Optimal Power flow approach is used for the optimal management of a battery storage system in microgrids. The proposed optimisation criterion is based on the possibility to select a subset of microgrids with the aim to reduce the total cost of system due to fluctuations fine costs and degradation costs (calendar and cycle aging) of the storage system. Considering an observation period of one year, results show that for a significant part of the time, under the economic point of view it is more advantageous to select a subset of microgrids instead of selecting all. Results shows that the proposed management strategy provides an economic advantage with a net gain of about 20%.
