Abstract:
This paper designs an improved model predictive control (MFC) tuning method for the flow field in the transonic wind tunnel, i.e., to quickly mitigate the overshoot and smooth the input signal. A flow field model is introduced first, and followed by an general MPC structure. Then, an MPC tuning algorithm is presented, particularly, the bending temporal matrix and the activation function. The bending temporal matrix is first proposed to reduce the variability of the actuator profile in the time domain by penalizing high frequency components, thus indirectly smoothing the input and output signals. The activation function is designed in the time domain to mitigate the overshoot. Simulation results show that the improved MPC controller yields better performance over the proportional-integral-derivative (PID) controller and the conventional MPC controller.
