Abstract:

As an intrinsic power loss of switched-capacitor converters (SCCs), capacitor charge-sharing loss reduces the performance of SCCs. In this paper, the approach based on q-u curves of capacitors is proposed to calculate capacitor charge-sharing loss precisely. By this method, the equivalent output impedance of a SCC can be modeled, especially with a large output capacitor. Subsequently, the 4-to-1 Dickson topology and 3-to-1 Ladder topology are taken as examples to validate the accuracy of the model.
