Abstract:

This paper proposed a Depth-Camera based measurement methodology to determine the volume of the bulk stack in the transfer process of liquor-making production. The system acquires the surface topography and calculates the volume integral dynamically for real-time monitoring. We propose an average-height criterion for detecting whether the container is filled to improve computational efficiency. The methodology is validated on both the laboratory simulation and the liquor factory production. The laboratory simulations show that the volume measurement error is smaller than 2%. And the average-height criterion is robust over the one-day factory data. Simulations indicate that this methodology is fast, robust and accurate for the complex factory scene with incomplete data set. This methodology also shows potential in other industrial production situations, like stockpile management and construction engineering.
