Abstract:

A high compact Wilkinson power divider and rate race coupler are proposed by using a Via-less composite right/left handed transmission line unit cell (CRLH TL). An equivalent schematic circuit model is presented to show the behavior of the CRLH TL. The designed CRLH TL unit cell is replaced instead of the quarter wavelength uniform transmission lines segments in a Wilkinson power divider and rate race coupler. Finally, a compact four way Wilkinson power divider and a rat-race coupler with better than 75% compactness are designed and simulated.
