Abstract:

Transportation information has distinct spatial and temporal distributed characteristics. The need for spatial and temporal data processing and analysis promotes the research for geographic spatio-temporal data models in the area of transportation planning. In this paper, we investigate to find out a practical solution for transportation temporal, spatial and attribute information storage and management, to avoid data redundancy and enable effective spatio-temporal analysis. Firstly, object oriented method is used to abstract transportation information data into different kinds of spatio-temporal objects. Then time stamps are added to those objects to express their static semanteme, and by the method of direct storing events, temporal topologies are built between objects to express their dynamic semanteme. This solution can be realized based on mature RDBMS data structure, so it is relatively easy to carry out and presents well practicability
