Abstract:
Vehicles equipped with automated driving functions are increasingly present on roads. With more significant growth comes a greater need for compliance with recognisable methods in testing proposed by standards and norms. As testing is accompanied by demanding economic and timing challenges, virtual testing is a promising approach, especially in early development. This study uses scenario-based testing to analyse hazards regarding intended functionality (ISO PAS 21448) and functional safety (ISO 26262). The primary benefit of this approach is using the same simulation set and assessment metrics for covering activities of both standards. However, the key is modifying parameters influenced by takeover time in the case of system failure. Hazard analysis results show an increase in the proportion of potentially critical test cases from 17.6% to 52.9% when a takeover is requested.
