Abstract:
The aim of this research is to provide an affordable active suspension system which can be widely applied to economical vehicles. In this paper, after giving a brief description of the mechanism of an active hydraulically interconnected suspension (HIS) system, a fuzzy logic controller (FLC) is implemented and empirically tuned on a sport utility testing vehicle fitted with the proposed active suspension system to control vehicle body roll angle. The test is performed on a purpose built 4-post test rig which generates the ground excitation to wheels. The preliminary experimental results are given to show the applicability of the novel active HIS mechanism with its controller. Findings from the experimental implementation of the active suspension with fuzzy control are discussed and future works are suggested.
