Abstract:
In the vision of the upcoming 5G communications expected to allow Internet access to different heterogeneous devices, the problem of Indoor access is under the lens of the scientific community. In order to guarantee electromagnetic safe and secure access, Visible Light Communications can be considered an enabler. In this regard trying to optimize very small cells (atto-cells) coverage is a challenging task especially if some metrics, as for example average user rate, is considered also in the presence of handover procedures. This problem is equivalent to the optimal LEDs placement once assigned the dimension of the room to be covered. We give evidence of the impact of several parameters starting from the data rate of download, the speed of the user in the room as well the handover time and retransmission due to detection errors.
