Abstract:
In the last years a new technological concept known as a Low Power Wide Area Network (LPWAN) was introduced. The LPWAN technologies offer new possibilities that cover a wide range of applications. They provide a cost-effective long-range and low-power solution for wireless sensor networks. Many application-based papers have already been published on the most adopted LPWAN technology known as LoRaWAN. However, there is a clear gap in the theoretical part of the recent researches. Therefore, the paper provides an evaluation of well-known simulation tools for the LoRaWAN technology. These new results should help in the network planning process, in which simulation is one of the first steps before deployment.
