Abstract:
The Covid-19 pandemic and the climate emergency have re-emphasised the need to re-evaluate urban governance and planning process in cities. The "new-normal" and digital transformations offer catalysts to drive and deliver climate mitigation in cities. However, mitigation solutions such as liveable neighbourhoods or 15-minute cities require data-driven intelligence for integrated assessment of alternative mitigation strategies. This paper considers the effectiveness of Digital-Twin solutions in making these integrated assessments supporting the delivery of "new-normal" potentials. It also assesses the extent to which existing technological solutions like Copernicus cross-cutting applications can aid these urban transformations.
