Abstract:

This letter examines the fusion detection challenge in multifrequency-based passive bistatic radar (MF-PBR) in the presence of the signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) difference. The traditional equal-gain-combination (EGC)-based methods suffer from performance loss when the SNR difference over the multiple frequency channels is enormous. To this end, a novel weighted combination strategy is proposed for quasicoherent MF integration. Specifically, a closed-form expression of the fusion weight is derived via modifying the noncoherent integration (NCI)-based fusion weight with respect to the MF channel parameters (CPs). Moreover, for the implementation of the proposed fusion technique, an iterative algorithm for the estimation of MF CPs is also developed. Field test results verify the superiority of the proposed method in terms of detection capability.
