Abstract:

In this letter, we analyze the performance of space shift keying (SSK) multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) modulation technique in a wireless-powered communication network (WPCN). The considered network consists of an access point and one user with multiple antennas and operates under Rayleigh conditions. A closed-form expression for the pairwise-error-probability is obtained and then employed to calculate the union bound of the average bit error rate for the system under consideration. Numerical results are provided and supported by simulations to validate the exactness of the theoretical analysis. The results demonstrate that energy harvesting can improve the system performance. Interestingly, unlike the conventional SSK-MIMO system, in SSK-based WPC, as the number of transmit-antennas increases the system performance is improved.
