Abstract:

In this letter, we give the first attempt to reap the benefits of non-orthogonal multiple access (NOMA) incorporated in small cell networks (SCNs) with hybrid automatic repeat request (HARQ). The outage performance of the incorporated scheme NOMA-SCN is investigated thoroughly under Type I HARQ with and without storage. By using stochastic geometry, we derive closed-form outage probabilities of near and far NOMA users. Simulation results are shown to be completely agreeable with the theoretical analyses. Besides, the HARQ with storage achieves a better outage performance than that without storage in the NOMA-SCN.
