Abstract:
Simulations of mobile networks require the specification of the node movement. The movement is either computed based on mathematical models or given by previously recorded mobility traces. The Mobile Node Trace Generator (MoNoTrac) is a mobility trace generator based on OpenStreetMap data. The simulation area is selected from a real city map and the movement of nodes of different kinds, such as cars and pedestrians, is simulated on this geographical data. We adapt two popular mobility models in a way that they respect the geographical and structural constraints. MoNoTrac produces an XML-based metaformat which may be converted to formats required by popular network simulators such as ns-2/3 and OMNeT++. The goal of the MoNoTrac framework is to ease the development process of more realistic mobility models that are based on real geo data.
