Abstract:
Toward to realizing establishment of new micro robot for micro-nano surgery, drag delivery etc., many people proposed microbe as actuator. So, evaluation of microbe property for these application arias is important. From this viewpoint, we try to fabricate evaluation tool for bacterial behavior in micro channel like capillary vessel. This evaluation will be helpful to our recent study “bacteria driven liposome as drag delivery systems”. For this purpose, we fabricated line patterned channel on polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) chip and junction of three channel on PDMS chip by nano imprinting and rapid prototyping technique respectively. And then some kind of marine bacterial cells (Vibrio alginolyticus), this bacteria can swim in water, are injected into the fabricated micro channel and observed their behavior. As first step, we observed relationship between channel width and swimming behavior and speed in line patterned micro chip, and we found that 1μm channel limited cell behavior as one-dimensional motion. Second step, we evaluate chemotaxis property of bacteria in junction of three channels.
