Abstract:

In this research, we propose a fabrication method that combines a dura mater model of a precise human body model with a fiber material and an elastic material. A dura mater model is fabricated by covering the fiber material with an elastic material. Mechanical properties of the fabricated dura mater models were measured. Since human dura mater cannot be collected because of ethical problems, dura mater models were compared with pig dura mater. The results of the measurement showed that PDMS × Japanese paper (Broussonetia kazinoki × B. papyrifera) model and Latex × Nonwoven fabric (Polypropylene) model are close to pigs. Surgical test by a doctor was done with these two dura mater models, and Latex × Nonwoven fabric (Polypropylene) model satisfied the 8/10 item of the evaluation criteria. Fabricate this model directly in the skull model and performed a doctor's surgical operation. It was confirmed that this model can actually be used as a surgical simulator.
