Abstract:

The presence of numerous sources of electromagnetic field (EMF) in the environment amplifies the public concerns on possible adverse health effects due to EMF exposure. The techniques of continuous measurement provide valuable information on daily EMF variations. Thus, the Serbian EMF RATEL monitoring network employs a number of EMF sensors, wideSPRead over the country's territory, which provide insight into present field levels. Occasionally, however, those sensors need verification of measurements. In the case study of this paper, a four-hour proof measurement of the high-frequency electric field was performed by a handheld measuring instrument, in the vicinity of a sensor mounted on the kindergarten rooftop. Comparative analysis reveals a good agreement between measurements of the sensor and the instrument. Furthermore, the acquired field values were significantly lower than the national minimal prescribed reference level, leading to the conclusion that the kindergarten area can be considered as EMF low-exposed area.
