Abstract:
As the trend of Internet of Everything becomes a reality, there have been massive wireless devices all over the world, each of which contributes to the huge CO2 emission for our earth every-time. To protect environment, green communications has been a key technology in 5G system, driven by today's economical and ecological requirements. In this article, the power division technique is introduced in the view of green communications. When compared with time and frequency division solutions, we show that the power division could save distinct energy/power across physical(-PHY), medium access control (MAC), and network (NET) layers. Additionally, it not only alleviates the strict requirement of powerful power amplify in user equipment but also reduces the computational complexity of power control. Accordingly, the power division has the potential to provide a new direction for green communications.
