Abstract:

Vehicular ad hoc network (VANET) applications have emerged as new opportunities for the automobile industry to provide advanced services for connecting vehicles and their users. Most of these services, such as safety, information, and entertainment systems, require a variety of digital content to be delivered to and from vehicles. In this article, we propose a novel, information-driven, software-defined architecture designed to make content available to vehicular networks. In contrast to the existing solutions, our proposed architecture is flexible and covers important aspects of content delivery in VANETs. To assess the benefits of our proposal, we have implemented a case study to compare it with two baseline solutions.
