Abstract:
Since 2000 I have been trying to disseminate my ideas and perspectives about next-generation networks during my invited talks, short courses and tutorials at international events, and in technical papers. I have always looked at the next generation network (NGN) as a heterogeneous interconnection of multiple networks where the ultimate goal is to provide the best service available to a user (application) through an efficient collaboration among those networks. So the network providers, rather than competing with each other, will complement their services, which could ultimately improve the network profitability for all.
