Abstract:
We propose the first thermoelectric-photoelectric integrated micro-scale generator designed for the power supply of wireless sensor nodes (WSNs) in the airplane. The micro-scale generator consists of a back-contact solar cell used for optical energy harvesting and a hybrid structure μ-TEG for thermal energy harvesting. Light trapping schemes like silicon nitride antireflection coating and random texturing at the bottom surface are adopted to reduce the reflection loss. The hot side and cold side of thermopile are insulated by the air cavity above and oxide passivation layer below to increase the thermal resistance between the two sides. The simulated results show that the efficiency of the solar cell can reach 15.12 % and the power factor of μ-TEG is larger than 0.8 μWcm-2K-2 with optimal structure parameters.
