Abstract:

This paper considers a power control problem for multiuser massive multiple-input multiple-output systems, where a base station with a massive number of antennas simultaneously receives data signals from the various users. A physical channel model is studied in this paper, where the angular domain is divided into a finite number of distinct directions. It is assumed that the perfect channel-state information is available at the base station and each user has the knowledge of only the geometric attenuation and shadow fading of the channel-state information. The lower capacity bound of uplink channel for zero-forcing detector is derived. According to the geometric attenuation and shadow fading of each user's channel, the power among the users is controlled in such a way that the spectral efficiency is maximized and the minimum energy per bit is achieved in the cell. It is shown that the proposed power control method outperforms the existing works addressed in the literature.
