Abstract:
In this paper, a dynamic wavelength and bandwidth allocation with only Tuning ONU Buffering (DWBA-TOB) scheme and an OSU-ONU Synchronous Cyclic Sleep (OOCS) sleep scheme are compared as alternative methods for improving Optical Line Termination (OLT) energy efficiency. Experimental results show that, if ONUs are slow tuning devices and reconfigurations are frequent, the OOCS scheme outperforms DWBA-TOB scheme in terms of both the average frame delay and the average energy savings.
