The EDISON project', funded under the 7th Framework Programme for Research and Technological Development (FP7), has the ambitious goal to demonstrate, through targeted Pilot actions implemented in different European countries, that an innovative ICT-based solution for lighting infrastructure may improve energy efficiency, reduce CO₂ emissions and encourage the use of small-scale renewable energy sources in public buildings. The proposed solution is based on the use of Solid State Lamps (SSLs) combined with a particular method of providing power to them, in order to realize a Smart Energy Platform (SEP) designed to directly contribute to reducing energy losses and consumption in building lighting.
