Abstract:
The school system suffers for being largely based on the concept of teaching as mere transmission of knowledge, with little active participation of students in the educational process. Moreover, children of the 21st century are born in a multi-media digital world and ask for adopting new technology-enhanced tools in the classrooms, in order to be engaged and motivated to learn. Our research moves the first steps towards a pervasive classroom allowing cooperative and participative learning, which could increases students' engagement and attainments. We start our work by designing applications suited for large interactive (touch sensitive) screens, aiming to stimulate new cooperative learning opportunities in classrooms.
