Abstract:
In wireless LAN communication, weak signal strength or high frame error rate of communication channels may cause performance problems. The common approach to cope with weak signal strength is to change association to a better access point. However, client may still suffer from poor system performance because of high error rate. It is because when the signal strength is strong enough, the association between the client and access point will not be changed although the error rate is high. In this paper, we propose a solution to the performance problem caused by frame error rate. We consider the use of parallel wireless links to provide better QoS to clients. To manage the use of parallel wireless links, a frame dispatching algorithm is proposed. Simulation results show that a better QoS is provided by using parallel links than using one single link. A higher system throughput is also achieved when comparing with other common dispatching algorithms.
