Abstract:
Handoff is an indispensable procedure to any radio access system. For the distributed wireless communications system (DWCS), a novel wireless access system, handoff algorithms are divided into two types: algorithm A, with a single antenna signal level as the handoff initiation criterion; algorithm B, with the total signal level as the handoff initiation criterion. It is verified that algorithm B is more suitable for DWCS. Subsequently, a position location and direction assisted algorithm B is presented, which can provide more accurate handoffs and better handoff performance.
