Abstract:
In this research, we propose a system model for optimizing energy efficiency (EE) using downlink orthogonal frequency division multiple access (OFDMA) technique for machine-to-machine (M2M) communications. As combined EE optimization process allocates maximum resource blocks (RBs) to cellular users, therefore M2M users don't get enough RBs. We propose a two-step solution where RBs are saved from cellular users by increasing resource efficiency (RE) and the unused RBs are reused to optimize EE for M2M users. For achieving improved EE, non-orthogonal resource sharing based RE approach is used in conducting M2M communication. A water filling algorithm is adopted in the two-step solution based RE and EE optimization process. Water filling algorithm allocates the proper optimal transmit power and an adequate number of RBs for CUEs as well as M2M pair reuses the unused RBs. Extensive numerical results demonstrate that the proposed scheme achieves superior performance and mitigate the interference significantly.
