Abstract:

Worldwide, cerebrovascular disease (CVD) contributes most to the total global burden of non-communicable disease. Cerebrovascular intervention (CVI) is a most frequently treatment for CVD. The CVI requires physician to own rich clinical experience and excellent surgical skills. Meanwhile, physicians are exposed to the x-ray. Based on the above reasons, the paper introduces a newly developed robotic system for CVI and we carried out a vascular model trial to test whether a frequently-used guidewire could be advanced into the cerebrovascular model using the newly robotic system.
