Abstract:

Simultaneous transmit and receive (STAR) systems offer greater spectral efficiency but require effective self-interference cancellation (SIC). Time-domain cancellation at RF frequencies with analog hardware is one common technique. In this paper, we present the design and test results for an RF canceller with two taps that can operate from 1 to 3 GHz which can be scaled for multi-tap designs using a unique Arduino shield format. This approach provides a useful tool for learning and lab experimentation focused on STAR and is novel because the Arduino Shields are scalable through stacking, allowing for many cancellation channels controlled through a single interface.
