Abstract:

An active telecommunication system is described that uses a laser beam transmitted through the air. A beam control system is proposed for tracking mobile terminals. A laser transmission system is newly designed, especially its brand-new laser beam detecting device. Experiments prove that an active free space optics (FSO) system can successfully follow a wandering receiver at a speed of more than 300mm/s, and enables broadband communication at 0.5 Gbps with a low bit error rate of 10-10.
