Abstract:
In this study, we have investigated the environmental effects of nickel removal from aqueous solutions by deposition in hydroxide form. The life cycle analysis found that mainly the toxicity potentials are high, even at the permitted emission limits. Without separation, toxicity values would have been many times higher, so the use of a negligible amount of chemicals to convert nickel into a less hazardous form is justified by the life cycle analysis.
