Abstract:
Latterly, a lot of attention has been given to the use of white space as a solution to the spectrum scarcity. Several measurement campaigns have been performed in many locations around the world aiming to provide precise comprehension of the spectrum usage pattern. For the Moroccan case, no local monitoring experiment has been done yet. Thus, a pioneer effort identifying and quantifying the white space in the UHF and VHF band in Morocco is presented in this paper. The findings reveal a significant amount of vacant yet licensed spectrum. A detailed analysis of the occupancy temporal variation is provided through different metrics. The outcome of the measurement campaign confirms the feasibility of a dynamic spectrum access policy and suggest the need to more spectral investigations in other scenarios.
