Abstract:

In CDMA based systems with the use of multi-user detection (MUD) methods the effects of multiple access interference (MAI) can be decreased and system performance can be increased. One of these methods which is parallel interference cancellation (PIC) is based on instantly estimating all users' information and removing MAI signal from active user signal. In this study, the effects of radio channel profiles and number of users on wideband CDMA (WCDMA) with parallel interference cancellation (PIC) are investigated. In the assessments, 2, 4, 8, 15 numbers of users, 3-finger rake receiver structure, and four different channel profiles measured in Manchester city center are used. It is observed from the results that the performance of PIC is changed dramatically depending upon channel's profile and number of users.
