Abstract:

Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) is the technology that integrates information and telecommunication systems with roadside infrastructures, vehicles and drivers. Wireless Sensor Network (WSN) technology which has become important recently, has an important mission to carry out implementations of the ITS. One of the general purposes of the ITS is “to provide safety of journey”. Determining of the velocity violations with real-time provides warning drivers and pedestrians to improve safety of journey. Hence, obtaining velocity information in high accuracy and real-time has vital importance. In this study, three methods preferred to obtain velocity information by low error. The preferred methods can be applied in the vehicles which prevents any probable synchronization problem. According to simulation results velocity information can be obtained by the proposed methods with 1.623 kilometers per hour average error.
