Abstract:
Healthcare domain is a huge and complicated area where people, different organizations and various institutions get services as well as provide services at the same time. In this area, a huge amount of health data is produced from a variety of resources and this data is growing up, exponentially. To share and reuse this produced big data among different healthcare information systems, medical information standards have been developed. As a result of these standards being insufficient for interoperability, subdomain specific ontologies have begun to be developed in healthcare domain. It is aimed that the health information that is defined by these domain specific ontologies can be shared among different healthcare information systems. In this paper, an ontology based integration approach is proposed to develop domain specific healthcare ontologies supported by medical informatics standards.
